Find out how to participate in an exciting major art project, led by contemporary textile artist, Alice Kettle. Everyone and all ages welcome!

Alice is making a monumental work with portraits by you to make a crowd of people. Your drawings could be chosen to be embroidered by Alice to make a huge multitude, to be displayed at the RWA Gallery in Bristol between May-August, 2025.

WHAT YOU DO:

ï On an A5 piece of paper, draw a simple drawing of yourself or of someone you know or a group of friends or family.

ï Do not include too much detail, keep it graphic. It can be an outline with simple blocks of colour.ï It can be just a head. It can be the whole person. They can be holding or wearing something important.

ï It doesn’t need to be a likeness, just an impression. Don’t worry about doing a good drawing!

ï You can do as many as you want!

NEXT -

ï Take a photo of the drawing.

ï If you chose write your first name on the work (do not include your full name)

ï Send either to this address: exhibitions@blackswanarts.org.uk OR pass your drawing to Dr Mulvenna in school and she will send in for you.

DEADLINE IS END OF OCTOBER 2024

WHAT WILL ALICE DO WITH YOUR DRAWING?

ï Alice will scan your drawing and stitch a reproduction onto the artwork.

ï She may change some of the details and colours or use it more than once.

ï Your drawings will be included on a screen next to the textile artwork in the exhibition.

You will need:

  • A drawing tool
  • A5 paper
  • Photo of yourself or a mirror (optional)
